Daniel Lara Ballesteros Researcher
Daniel Lara Ballesteros (Monterrey, Mexico, 1976) is an interdisciplinary artist and sound researcher based in Mexico City. He studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and is currently engaged in artistic production and research based on physical and perceptual phenomena around sound. During 2017–20 he is a participant in the SNCA (National System of Art Creators) scheme of FONCA (National Fund for Culture and the Arts). He has been a resident at Artefacto Sonoro (Quito, Ecuador), 2019; RAVI (Liège, Belgium), 2018; and FLORA ars+natura (Bogotá, Colombia), 2017. Solo exhibitions include: Tejido Cimático, Ex Teresa Arte Actual (Mexico City), 2019; Yarumo Diálogos y resonancias, Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (Medellín, Colombia), 2018; and Aleación 1 y 2, Casa del Lago (Mexico City), 2016. Group exhibitions include: Yo era bueno tirando piedras, La Tallera (Cuernavaca, Mexico), 2020; In a World of Endless Rainfall, E-Werk, (Freiburg, Germany), 2018; Modos de Oír, Laboratorio Arte Alameda (Mexico City), 2018; and Esto es temporal, La Casita (Bogotá), 2017. He has participated in sound festivals including: Meditatio Sonus, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico), and Radar Festival, Auditorio Nacional (Mexico City), 2010.
